Regulations for Each Test and Vaccine

HISA Rule 2143 establishes the requirements for each test and vaccine. In order to race, these requirements must be met. To ensure your horse can race, make sure your horse’s negative Coggins test and necessary vaccines are up to date, as required by HISA Rule 2143.

Certificate of Veterinary Inspection - Required 5 Days or Less Prior to Entry onto the racetrack

Coggins Test - Required Negative Equine Infectious Anemia (Coggins) Test

Encephalitis Vaccine - Required within the prior 12 months

Rabies Vaccine - Required within the prior 12 months

Tetanus Vaccine - Required within the prior 12 months

Influenza Vaccine - Required within the prior 180 days or sooner if high-risk situations dictate

Rhinopneumonitis Vaccine - Required within the prior 180 days or sooner if high-risk situations dictate
