The ITHA board has done all that was possible to safeguard Thoroughbred racing at Arlington Park and Hawthorne Race Course, while also lending a helping hand to the HBPA and working with our Standardbred friends.
SB 744 provides the revenue to purses necessary to benefit the racing and breeding industry so as to spawn a renaissance of this industry in Illinois. At stake are tens of thousands of agri-related jobs, racetracks survival across Illinois, and jockeys, trainers, owners, and fans who have supported this great sport for over 100 years in Illinois.
I wish to thank the many members who have expressed their gratitude to the ITHA. It is because of you folks that make our efforts worthwhile. As only horseman can do, they need to acknowledge the efforts of trainer Chris Block for not only being a fine horseman, but a fine individual, who is considerate to a fault of his colleagues’ best interest.
Thank you to the Owner-Directors and Trainer- Directors of the ITHA, who every day advocate for a better racing model in Illinois.
