Dear Fellow Horsemen:

The ITHA Board of Directors, as part of an ongoing commitment to better meet the needs of horsemen stabled and racing at Hawthorne Race Course, are initiating a “Weather, Track Surface Advisory, and Horsemen Update” by text to users phone.

This ITHA Weather and Track Advisory is a joint venture with Hawthorne that will better inform our horsemen with up-to-date track conditions, including extreme weather conditions, which may lead to delays in training or closing of the track. The Weather and Track Advisory Alert will be forwarded to the ITHA, who will then distribute the information to owners, trainers, assistant trainers, barn foremen, jockeys, and jockey agents that wish to participate at NO ITHA CHARGE (Standard Text Messaging Rates May Apply). There will be NO ITHA CHARGE and this will be a voluntary program that users can sign up for at the ITHA office or by e-mailing the ITHA your contact information.

The “Weather and Track Advisory Alert” text message will be sent daily during Hawthorne’s race meet at approximately 5:30 a.m. The ITHA hopes that communicating to our horsemen in this fashion will allow for safer training conditions during the winter months.
