The final “agreed” legislative language for gaming expansion – contained in SB 1849 – was not called for a vote before both chambers adjourned on Thursday, November 10.Both chambers have delayed action on legislation until they reconvene on Tuesday, November 29.
This provides the horse racing industry the opportunity to shore up and solidify its supporters over the next two weeks to ensure the necessary votes are with us to pass SB 1849 and slots-at-tracks.
As with SB 744, passage of SB 1849 will only happen with the involvement and support of the entire horse racing industry.
Please call all of your local legislators nextweek – before the Thanksgiving holiday begins – and ask them support the gaming expansion bill (specifically SB 1849) to ensure the continued viability of the Illinois horse racing and breeding industries and the related agri-business associated with those industries.
