Hawthorne Update 1/4/2013
Dr. Ernst has revised the target release date to January 12, 2013.
The last horse had samples taken on December 23, 2012. The new target
date is 21 days from the date the horse was tested. This horse remains
in isolation, but is not showing any symptoms of the disease. This date is
tentative and could change if any new cases arise. If this date remains,
horses would be allowed to leave the grounds the following day, January 13, 2013.
Although the quarantine may be lifted at Hawthorne, this does not mean
other tracks or states will allow horses from Hawthorne. Therefore, it is advisable
to check with your destination state’s department of agriculture and track prior to leaving.
