Hawthorne Update 12/31/2012
On December 24th a horse that was tested for EHV-1
was positive and moved to isolation. The horse has been
asymptomatic and is doing well. Dr. Ernst, Illinois Department
of Agriculture State Veterinarian, has been informed of this case
and has decided that the Department will not change the target
Hawthorne quarantine release date of January 9, 2013.
For any trainers leaving the grounds and needing to have a
sealed trailer, Dr. Folker will be available on the following days
in January: 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, 14, 15, 16, 22 and 23. An appointment
is needed to have a trailer sealed.
Although other tracks may lift their bans on Hawthorne horses
shipping in when the quarantine is lifted, that has not been confirmed.
Check with destination state departments of agriculture and tracks
before attempting to move horses to another state or track.
