Major Step Forward for Slots at Racetracks Posted On:Jan 05, 2011 | Posted By:Glen
GREAT NEWS! Today after lengthy testimony from both sides of the issues, Senate Bill 737 passed the House Executive Committee on a vote of 8 to 3.The bill now goes to the House Floor for a vote by the entire House. In order to pass, the bill needs at least 60 Representatives to vote for this bill.
Again, please contact your legislator now at their Springfield office. This bill could be voted on as soon as this Friday in the House.Tell your legislator how important this bill is to horse racing.Tell your story.
Hopefully the bill will pass the House on Friday or Monday. If this happens the bill must return to the Senate for consideration of the House changes.
The legislative process is often referred to as a “roller coaster ride” because there are often many “ups and downs” involved in the process. At this moment we are on the “up” side of things.
At this time ITHA would like to thank all of our horsemen’s coalition for working diligently together.A special thank you goes to David McCaffery, President of IHHA and Lanny Brooks, Executive Director of HBPA, ITHA Executive Director Glen Berman, the entire ITHA Board of Directors and Dan Sullivan, ITBOF President and the entire ITBOF membership. And a special thanks to the finest people I know – the Illinois Thoroughbred Horsemen!
